What it feels like for an alien…
This currently ongoing project aims to cast light and colour on the general feeling that everyone living in big cities might have or has already had - alienation. This feeling has been long described and talked about, and visual artists and musicians alike have found creative ways to recontextualise its origin, meaning, and evolution.
The striking paradox that individuals who are surrounded by large crowds are also simultaneously feeling estranged and ignored is a multi-faceted point of interest and, to some extent, a source of inspiration for the artist.
Colourful and insightful!
Based on principles of art therapy where colours, amongst other things, are used as a mechanism for self-expression, this project aims to uncover and reshape the general impact of alienation, isolation, and separation on social interactions. One further aim is to also find out whether abstract colour combinations can be associated with specific emotions and states of mind.
The mini-paintings are made with acrylics on wood or cork, and the postcards and bookmarks - with watercolours on watercolour paper. All artworks are on Alexandr’s merchandise list and can be viewed and ordered below.
